Kicking off my Weight Loss Journey

After turning 50, I reflected on my youth and wondered how I went from trim and muscular to obese. What happened? Job, marriage, kids, stress of job, stress of marriage and stress of kids, moving, and ageing parents. Essentially, life happened and the things I took advantage of and took for granted landed on my stomach.

Style and fashion has never been in the forefront of defining who I am, but my self confidence definitely takes a hit when my pants size continues to grow, or when I try on something somewhat trendy on only to look in the mirror to see a silly middle age man looking back at me.

My wife always asks me when I’m going to buy new clothes, and I always reply, ‘When I lose weight’. I’ve been putting the inevitable off for years and now that I’m officially half a century old, my time is running out, I need to get started.

Years ago, my wife and I faithfully starting counting the fat grams we each consumed, and while exercising and holding each other accountable, the weight started to come off. Then my wife got pregnant and her cravings became my cravings and we were both eating for two. We had our last kid 10 years ago but the eating for two hasn’t stopped.

My goal with starting this blog, is to hold myself accountable, learn healthy recipes and perhaps motivate someone else in the process.

My goal is to lose 60 lbs. Stay tuned for updates.
